Today is Lantern Festival (元宵节 yuánxiāo jié), marking the last day of the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) celebrations. This comes on the 15th day of the lunar calendar.
Students at EasyMandarin Chinese School received a delicious treat after class. Everyone loved the Tang Yuan (sweet sticky rice balls) that were filled with sesame and purple sweet potato. One student thought the sesame paste tasted like peanut butter. A few students were hesitant at first to try something that looks so unfamiliar, but they were pleasantly surprised by the great taste!
